For this tutorial we will be using the WP Mail SMTP plugin which can be found using the link below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

With the plugin installed and activated, we will go under Settings, WP Mail SMTP, and select Gmail. For this we will need to set up a client ID, Client Secret and a URL in the ‘Authorized redirect URI’ fields. To start filling that out we will want to go to the Google Developers Console site and create a new project. You can go to the site using the link below:

https://console.developers.google.com/apis/dashboard

We would recommend naming the project something you can remember should you need to find it again and click the create button. Use the Enable APIs and Services to go through the options and enable the Gmail API.

On the following page, it should have a Create Credentials button in the top right of the page. For the type of API, it will be a Gmail API and we will be calling the API from a Web browser(Javascript) and we will be accessing User data then we will ask what credentials we will need.

In the Authorized Javascript origins, we will add the address of our site. For the Authorized redirect URI, we will get that from the plugins settings page and click refresh to bring up the consent screen. For setting it up, we will use an External, name it, add our email, and publish the app to get our information.

Copy the Client ID from Google to add to your plugin’s settings, click done, and edit the OAuth client ID to grab the secret key to include in the plugin’s settings and save the settings to ensure you don’t lose the information.

You can send another email or for another option, you can set up another SMTP which would require your login information which is far less secure.

To manually convert your content, you would want to visit the post/page and if your post/page’s content is in a single classic block, you would want to click the three vertical dots above the classic block and click the Convert to Block button. This will attempt to convert your content into multiple different blocks for you.

If you have many blocks and don’t want to manually edit each one, we would recommend installing an activating the Bulk Block Converter plugin found below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/bulk-block-converter/

Before you use this plugin we would recommend creating a backup of your site using one of the tools from our guide below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/7-best-wordpress-backup-plugins-compared-pros-and-cons/

With your backup created, you would want to go under Tools, Block Conversion, and click the Scan Content button to start scanning your site. If the post is a mix of classic blocks and other blocks the plugin won’t recognize it as a post that needs to be updated.

Once all of the posts have been scanned, the plugin will create a list that you can select specific posts out of or use the Bulk Convert All button to convert your content into different individual blocks in the editor.

How to Easily Embed Videos in WordPress Blog Posts

Do you want to embed videos in your WordPress blog posts? WordPress has tools to make embedding your videos from hosting sites super easy. In this guide, we’ll show you how to easily embed videos in your WordPress blog posts, pages, and widgets.

This video is sponsored by Smash Balloon, a powerful plugin to help you bring your social media content to your WordPress site, take a look at Smash Balloon here:

=================================

For our discount, use our code: WPBVIP

For most embeds, you should be able to visit the page with the video you are wanting to embed and copy the URL for that page. Go to the post or page where you want the video embedded and paste the URL in a block there. WordPress should automate the embed and show the video for you. If you are using the classic editor on your site then you can use the same process of pasting the URL into your editor to create the embed.

If you would like to add the video in a widget for your site, we would recommend adding a text widget to your site and pasting the video URL there. WordPress should use that URL and automatically generate the embed for you to appear in the widget area on your site.

To help make the video experience better there are a few plugins available to help improve the user experience, the first is Smash Balloon YouTube Feed found at the link below:

https://smashballoon.com/youtube-feed/

It has tools for automatically embedding your YouTube channel videos in a customizable gallery format. With the plugin installed and activated you would want to connect to your YouTube account in the settings for the plugin and add the Feeds for YouTube block in the post/page you want it to appear.

For improving the speed of your site, we would recommend installing and activating the Lazy Load for Videos plugin.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/lazy-load-for-videos/

With the plugin installed and activated, it will now use a placeholder image to have your videos display until the user attempts to view the video to save load time on your pages.

For our first recommendation, we want to point you toward Stripe. They are the most popular payment gateway to accept credit card payments on your site. They’ve also helped standardize the 3%+30 cents per transaction cost.

Stripe
https://stripe.com/

The next most popular is PayPal, it’s available in dozens of countries with built-in integrations for WooCommerce. The downside is the default integration requires a PayPal Business account and does not add checkout on your site itself.

PayPal
https://www.paypal.com/

Next is, WooComerce PayPal Pro which is a paid extension that allows you to use PayPal without leaving your site. This is a paid service and there are monthly fees for usage. This accepts credit cards and PayPal itself.

The above link is a referral link to ideally get you any discounts that are currently available for the product.

Square is a great tool that can connect to your WooCommerce site and can add the ability to track and sync products with your account.

Authorize.net is a powerful gateway that can connect to a WooCommerce store using Authorize.net. They are normally used as they can help you connect to multiple merchant accounts with custom structures that support recurring payments.

Lastly, WooCommerce Payments helps connect more deeply to different structures but is limited to the United States. This is mainly a white label version of Stripe that requires a WordPress.com account

Breadcrumbs are the navigation links that are normally at the top of a page above the post tile that users can click to visit different sections of your site. If you visit an article on WPBeginner we have our breadcrumbs at the top of our pages.

For the first method we will be using the Breadcrumb NavXT plugin that you can find below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/

Once you install and activate the plugin you can customize the plugin’s settings under Settings, Breadcrumb NavXT in your wp-admin area. This includes any page-specific templates that you may want to use. Once you set up the templates you can activate them under Appearance, Customize, and under your Breadcrumb area in the customizer.

If you would prefer a different tool then you could use Yoast SEO which can be downloaded using the link below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

You can find the settings for the Breadcrumbs area under SEO, Search Appearance, then click the Breadcrumbs tab in the settings area. That will allow you to customize the different methods of display for your breadcrumbs and don’t forget to save your changes on this page.

For the breadcrumbs to appear, you will want to go under Appearance, Customize, and select Breadcrumbs to enable them.

The simplest method for checking this would be to install and activate the MonsterInsights plugin. Then under Tools, Site Health, MonsterInsights will scan your site to check if you have more than one code on your site.

For the second resource we cover in this video, you can see the MonsterInsights guide we recommend below which includes links to the browser addon:

https://www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-check-if-google-analytics-is-working/

The first place to check would be if you use a plugin like Insert Headers and Footers plugin to check if you have a duplicate of the script pasted into the plugin’s header area.

The second most common location to check would be under Appearance, Theme Editor, and navigate to your theme’s header.php file to check for the Google Analytics code there.

00:00 Intro
01:09 Add Widgets to Footer
02:59 Theme Customizer
04:31 What’s your favorite method?
04:40 Edit footer.php
05:15 Add code to the footer

For the most common method to add or remove from the widget area, we will go under Appearance, Widgets, and look for a footer widget area. This will allow us to add a widget, menu, or other types of content to the footer. In this guide, we will be adding a menu as our example.

Some themes offer you more control over the design so when you go under Appearance, Customize and scroll to the bottom of the page to check for a pencil icon that you can click. If there is one, once you click it, the editor will bring up the options available in your thing for what can be edited.

If you do not have either of these options, you would want to use FTP to edit your theme’s files, you can see how to use FTP with our guide below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/6-best-ftp-clients-for-wordpress-users/

Before making any changes with this method, be sure to create a backup of any files you plan to modify by downloading them. With this method, we will edit the theme files themselves, specifically footer.php, and look for the line with ‘Powered by WordPress’. You would edit that text to change it to what you would like to have on your theme’s footer.

Lastly, if you only need to add code to the page then we would recommend our Insert Headers and Footer plugin below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/

You can add the code you would like under Settings, Insert Headers and Footers. There are three different areas and the bottom is for scripts you would like to add to the footer.
