How to Create a Custom Instagram Photo Feed in WordPress

We’ve had users ask us how to add and customize an Instagram photo feed on their site. Specifically, users are looking for how to show select photos instead of all photos from their profiles. In this article, we’ll show you exactly how to create a custom Instagram photo feed in WordPress.

This video is sponsored by Smash Balloon, a powerful plugin to help you bring your social media content to your WordPress site, take a look at Smash Balloon here:

For this tutorial, we will be using the pro version of Smash Balloon. There is a free version as well but this specific tutorial will cover how to use the pro version.

Once you purchase and install the plugin, you would want to go under Instagram Feed, Licence to add your license key to the plugin so it is active. Then, in the plugin’s settings, you can choose to connect a business or personal account. If you were unsure how to upgrade to a business account, you would want to take a look at the article below:

https://smashballoon.com/instagram-business-profiles/

The plugin has many different choices for what to show when using a business account on the page from your user account, a public hashtag, tagged posts, or a mix of those options.

If adding to a page you can add an Instagram Feed block for showing the content on a specific page, for widgets there is a dedicated widget, or the plugin even offers shortcodes should you have a custom location for your site. If you would prefer to change the way the feed is displayed then under Instagram Feed, Settings, Customize and the plugin has different built-in display methods to choose from.

How to Restart a WordPress Site – Reset WordPress The Fast Way

Are you wanting to reset your site back to the very basic WordPRess installation? This isn’t a common need or something that needs to be done often but it is helpful to know how to do this. In this video, we’ll show you how to restart a WordPress site the fast way.

Before resetting your website we would recomend creating a backup in case you want to restore your content. For what tool to use, we have multiple options we recommend in our article below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/7-best-wordpress-backup-plugins-compared-pros-and-cons/

For this tutorial we will be using the WP Reset plugin which can be found under Plugins, Add New or using the link below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-reset/

Once you have installed and activated the plugin you should be able to go under Tools, WP Reset in your admin dashboard. On the page you would want to scroll down to the Reset Site section and type in reset once you are ready to reset the site. BEFORE you make this change we would strongly recommend creating a backup of your site should you need to restore the site or need any content that is about to be removed.

A confirmation message should pop up to ask if you are certain you want to reset the site that you would click once you have your backup setup and you are ready. The page should show a ‘Resetting in progress’ message for a few seconds depending on the size of your site and then your site will be restarted.

You should be redirected to your dashboard home page and see a message that your site has been reset. Depending on your selections when resetting your site, your theme and/or plugins will either be inactive or active. Your posts and pages will be removed and your media library will be emptied.

For this tutorial, we will be using WPForms and the pro version of the plugin can be purchased using the information above or downloaded in your plugins section. Now you can go under WPForms, Add New to start creating your new form.

Start with the form type you are looking to create and when the form is created you will be able to add the multiple choice field to your form. In the field settings, you will want to click the checkbox labeled “Use image choices” and your different choices will now have an Upload image box beneath each.

For most sites, we recommend using jpg or png images that are 250px by 250px or smaller. In the advanced options, you also have the option to randomize the choices to prevent the choices from appearing in the same locations for every user.

Once you have the form set up you would go into a post or page and click the + icon to select your block and we want to use the WPForms block. This will add a WPForms interface with a dropdown to select the form you want to display there.

How to Change the Text Color in WordPress 3 Easy Methods

We’ve had a few users ask us if there was an easy way to change the text color in WordPress. If you are curious about it as well, you have multiple different options for the text across the whole site or even a single word in your content. In this video, we’ll show you how to easily change the text color in WordPress step by step.

This video brought to you by SeedProd, the best WordPress giveaway plugin available, take a look at their site here:

https://www.seedprod.com/

For our discount use the code: WPBVIP

You can use the default editor for a first option. Start by creating a section of text in a post or a page. Now there should be block options on the right-hand side of the editor for the different settings of the block. Under Color Settings, you should be able to set a text color for the specific block.

The next option would be if your theme has customization options, you would normally find them under Appearance, Customize. Normally themes will have a typography section where the options are located but each theme is different so your theme may have a different location where to modify this. For any changes in this area don’t forget to click the Publish button to save the changes and make them live on your site.

Finally, the most difficult for beginners method we are covering in this video would be adding CSS for your content. CSS can be added under Appearance, Customize, and then you would go to the Additional CSS section. Now you can add the CSS code that we include in our written article to include for your site content.

How to Easily Change the Font Size in WordPress

Are you wanting to change the font size in your WordPress posts and pages? You may not like how your theme has styled the text or want to customize a line or paragraph for your uses. In this video, we will show you how to easily change the font size in WordPress!

Timestamps
0:00 Intro
0:14 Method 1: How to adjust the paragraph headings
1:29 Method 2: How to use the block editor to adjust the text size
2:05 Method 3: How to change the font size using TinyMCE Advanced plugin
3:43 Method 4: How to change font sitewide using CSS

To start out, you can select a block of text and use the convert button for that block to change it to a heading block. This allows you to use the different sized headings to separate the content into sections.

If you’re not wanting to set the text in a heading then in the default text block you can use the block settings to modify the size. Ensure it is showing the block settings and not the document settings on the right-hand side and the size options are in the Text settings area.

For our third method, we will be using TinyMCE Advanced found using the link below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/

Now you can go under Settings, TinyMCE Advanced to add the font size to the block that the plugin has added. Return to your post, and add a ‘Classic Paragraph’ block and it will have all of the controls you saw when modifying the settings.

For the final method, we will be using CSS which is the more advanced way to modify something’s style on your site. Go under Appearance, Customize and we will add our CSS from the written article in this area. Our written article is linked below and you can also find it using the link below:

For this video, we will be using WPForms lite to create the form for free. The free version of WPForms can be found using the link below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpforms-lite/

Install and activate the plugin and then go under WPForms, Add New and it will bring up WPForm’s form creation. We will be using the Simple Contact form template which will add the default fields that a contact form requires to work properly and you can add or remove fields for your personal needs. Using the available fields on the left you would drag them to the location where the form is located or you delete using the button in the top right of each field when hovered.

Once you have your form set up you can go under Settings, Confirmations to customize the success message. In the notification options, it can send the email to your default admin address under Settings, General for your site or you can change that to a different email. You also can modify the Confirmations to redirect your users to a new page letting them know about the successful submission.

With all of that set up, you can visit a page and use the WPForms block to add the block to your page. It should appear in the editor and give you an idea of what the content would look like. If you would prefer the form in a widget you would need to go under Appearance, Widgets in your admin area, and add the WPForms widget to your widget area and select your contact form from the dropdown.

►How to Install a WordPress Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIPQRQLAz90

For the first method we will be using the plugin Theme My Login found below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-my-login/

With this, you can customize the slugs for the different pages and add the ones you want for the plugin to use or set it to already created pages. Start by creating a page with the URL you want and then add the shortcode from our written version of the article or the plugin’s page. Now when you visit the page it should display your login page.

For method 2 we will be using the WPForms Pro version to create the login page. Go to the WPForms site, purchase WPForms, download the file, and add the license key to get WPForms active. Now in the addons for WPForms we will want to install and activate the User Registration Addon for the login form.

Under WPForms Add New, we will want to scroll down and select the User Login Form. This creates a template that automatically adds and sets up the normally needed template for a form like this. You’re able to decide where the users will be redirected to on login as well. Now you can create a new page and add the WPForms block to the page, select the form you had for the login and save your changes.

The third method will be using the Colorlib Login Customizer plugin found below:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/colorlib-login-customizer/

This will add a login customizer section to your admin area that gives you tools to customize the default login page to how you are wanting it to appear.

How To Disable Automatic Updates In WordPress

Are you wanting to avoid automatic updates on your WordPress site to prevent any issues down the road? Despite the security bonuses, there is a small chance for these updates to break your website. In this video, we’ll show you how to disable automatic updates on your WordPress site.

This video is sponsored by MonsterInsights, a powerful plugin to help you use your analytics information to the fullest, take a look at MonsterInsights here:

For our discount, use our code: WPBVIP

For this tutorial we will be using the Easy Updates Manager plugin which you can download below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-disable-automatic-updates-in-wordpress/

With the plugin installed and activated you should be able to go under Dashboard, Updates Options to start specifying what you allow to be automatically updated or not on your site. For WordPress itself, we recommend allowing minor version updates to prevent security issues that those patches resolve.

The plugin keeps a log of what is updated on the site and gives you the option to rollback to a previous update should any update on your site cause an issue. There are further options available in the pro version of the plugin.

Should you not want to use a plugin you can add a code snippet to your site, you can find the snippet in our article below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-disable-automatic-updates-in-wordpress/

You would add the code for the WordPress core updates to your wp-config.php file and the other two updates would be added in your theme’s functions.php file. The danger with this method would be that any theme updates or changes in theme would require you to add the code again.
