How to Track WordPress Category and Tag Analytics (Easy Way)

Do you want to track WordPress category and tag analytics on your site? By default, most website analytics solutions tell you your most popular posts and pages but don’t include specific categories or tags in the analytics. This video is sponsored by MonsterInsights, take a look at MonsterInsights here:

Connect Your Site to Google Analytics:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWSrpXQDSbk&list=PLOmYFHk0WYatyPqZKL7scnEx9x1gINsS3&index=7

In the MonsterInsights, Addons area we will Install the Dimensions addon to give us the controls we’re looking for. We will go into Settings and in the custom dimensions section, we will select what we want to track. Now in Google Analytics under Admin, Custom Definitions, Custom Dimensions we will add a new dimension, tell Google what it is looking for and ensure it is active. Go back into your MonsterInsights settings to make sure your IDs in the plugin match those in Google Analytics to ensure proper

With this improved tracking, you may want to improve your category and tag pages, to help you do this, we recommend the plugin Advanced Excerpt found here:

If you go under Posts, Categories, and click edit beneath any of your categories it should give you the option to add a description on the page to help your visitors and search engines know what to expect from that category’s page.

How to Redirect Users after Successful Login in WordPress

Are you wanting to redirect users to a specific page after they log in to your WordPress site? Depending on the user’s role WordPress normally sends them to the dashboard or their profile in the admin area. In this video, we’ll cover two methods to redirect users after they successfully log in to WordPress.

This video brought to you by WPForms, take a look at their site here:

=================================
https://wpforms.com/
=================================

For the discount, use our code: WPBVIP

For the first method we’ll cover, we will be using Peter’s Login Redirect plugin found here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/peters-login-redirect/

Once you install and activate the plugin you will want to go under Settings, Login/logout Redirects to set up the plugin’s settings. In the settings page, you can choose to redirect for a specific user once they log in, or a specific user role and you can check under the plugin settings to decide what capability a user needs to edit the options, we recommend install plugins to limit this to admin users. Don’t forget to save the specific sections and the options page itself to ensure that it saves all of your customizations.

For the second method we recommend, we will be using WPForms Pro version to create our login page. Once you install and activate the plugin (you can receive a discount with the code above) you would activate the user registration addon and create a new form, ours will start with the preset User Login Form template. With the form setup, under Settings, Confirmation we will set the confirmation to go to a URL of our choice and save the settings.

The best tool we would recommend for tracking your site’s analytics would be Google Analytics. However, Google does not always make its information the most human-readable data out there. To help with this, we recommend the MonsterInsights plugins and for just starting out the free version handles most general use cases and can be found here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/

If you want more advanced features and tracking, we would recommend MonsterInsights pro which you can purchase using the link above and even receive a discount if you use the code WPBVIP. In the Settings area, you can add the key for your pro version and MonsterInsights will change to the pro features. To easily set up Goole Analytics to this site, you can scroll down and activate the setup wizard and it will go through the process of connecting.

You will be able to select the Google account you want to give MonsterInsights access to for viewing your Analytics data and select from a dropdown the specific site you’re on currently. MonsterInsights will handle the connection and required code and continue with the setup wizard where you can select different settings to enable or disable. This includes which file type to track data on and if you have affiliate links it gives the option to track them here.

MonsterInsights will bring all of your analytics data from Goole to your WordPress admin area in a format that is easier to read for most users. If you wanted to include eCommerce tracking you would go into your Google Analytics under Admin, Goals you want to enable Ecommerce and Enhanced Ecommerce Reporting. Now on MonsterInsights, you want to enable the eCommerce addon and enable Enhanced eCommerce in the eCommerce section of the settings for easy tracking of your products.

How to create a Membership site video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwUfRTJR0eI&list=PLOmYFHk0WYavqB6QCjBdNUu7Z-dVI_SQ8&index=4&t=0s

For the first method we will use in this video, you will want to install the WPForms plugin if you have not purchased the pro version you can use the lite version found here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpforms-lite/

Create a new form under WPForms, Add New. For this tutorial we used a simple contact form, make any changes you would like to the form and save. Now, on the post or page where you would like it to appear, in the publish settings there are two options that you can choose.

The first option is Private which will make it only so site admins and editors will be able to view the post. The second option would be to set the post to password protected and to get the post any user will need to know the password that you set. These are the default options available in WordPress, for these next options they will require either the paid version of WPForms or a different plugin.

If you want to limit to WPForms then you can purchase the Pro version of the plugin or higher and get your license key. With that key go under WPForms, Settings and add it to unlock the pro features, for this guide we will go under Addons and install the Form Locker Addon. We can now go back and edit the form and under Settings, Form Locker we can choose how we want to limit submissions to the form including a message for those not logged in to your site.

For the final method, we will cover in this guide, we will install and activate the MemberPress plugin, you can visit them and receive the most up to date discount we have using our referral link here:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/refer/memberpress/

Once you install, activate, and add your license key to MemberPress we can start customizing the settings of who can view what content. To limit specific posts to certain membership levels, you would want to add a tag to the page or post that you can remember. Then under MemberPress, Rules, you can choose to limit all content with your specific tag to a certain level.

How to Rename Images and Media Files in WordPress

Are you wanting to change the name of an image file after uploading it to WordPress? While WordPress allows you to change an image alt tag and caption, they don’t give a built-in method to change the file name. In this video, we will show you how to easily rename images and media files in WordPress. This includes a method to replace images after renaming them on your computer.

This video is sponsored by MonsterInsights, take a look at MonsterInsights here:
=================================
https://www.monsterinsights.com/
=================================

For the discount, use our code: WPBVIP

For the first method, we will be using a plugin called Phoenix Media Rename that you can find here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/phoenix-media-rename/

Once activated, go to the Media section of your site and ensure it is in the list view. You can swap between grid and list view by using the two icons to the left of the search dropdowns and the list view will display the file names. Click edit next to the image you want to edit and WordPress should now have an editable field where you can change the name and the plugin will update the name change across your site.

For the second method we will use the plugin Enable Media Replace that you can find here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/

With the plugin active you can go to your Media section again and in the list view, there will be a link to replace media. When you click on the link you will be asked to choose the file on your computer you want to replace the media with. The plugin will give you the option to replace just the file or replace the file across your entire site and if you wanted to keep the date or change it at all.
