To begin this guide we will be setting up the site using BlueHost who we have negotiated a coupon that you can use by clicking the link below:

https://www.wpbeginner.com/refer/bluehost/

Once you’ve installed the site on BlueHost if it wasn’t set up with the SSL certificate you can update the URL using the Really Simple SSL plugin from the WordPress.org repository here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/

The plugin will work with your SSL certificate to ensure anyone visiting the site will have the padlock icon next to your URL which confirms the site is secure and using https.

For setting up this site we will be using the Astra theme found here:

https://wordpress.org/themes/astra/

As well as the Beaver Builder page builder to help customize it. If you use a different theme then you may have different customization options available to you. Design the site how you would like it to display for your visitors, with the Astra theme and Beaver Builder you can create almost any design you’re looking to add to your site.

To set up the online course, we recommend using LearnDash to set up the course as you’d expect from other e-learning websites. The plugin gives you an easy method to accept/return payments, group lessons, and limit access to the courses. We have a link where you can get a discount for the plugin below:

For this video we will be using the Insert Headers and Footers plugin that WPBeginner maintains found here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/

With the plugin installed and active, you can go under your Settings, Insert Headers and footers section in your admin area to see the two text areas where you can insert code. The top section is for code that should be in the head of your site while the bottom is for placing code above the end /body tag.

The plugin allows you to make this change and if you update your theme the code modification will stay rather than being overwritten.

Without the plugin, you would manually need to go under Appearance, Theme Editor and choose the files that you want to add the code to. When adding code using this method you will lose any modifications if you update your theme.

Change Your WordPress Password: 3 Easy Methods You Can Use

Learn how to change your WordPress password in this video. We’ll use 3 methods so you can reset your password in WordPress quickly.

Method one is in the WordPress profile area.
Method two is the “forgot your password” method.
Method three is more advanced and uses phpMyAdmin area to reset your WordPress password.

For the first method we will go to the WordPress admin area and under Users, Your Profile we will click the generate password button. This will generate a strong password for you that you can change should you want.

The second method, if you don’t have access to your admin area, you can go to your login page and use the forgot password link at the bottom to send yourself a reset password email. The email will have a link allowing you to reset the password to what you would like it to be and then direct you to the login page.

If you don’t receive the forgot password email then you can log in to your hosting provider for the third method in this video. In your hosting area, you should be able to find a phpMyAdmin area to get to your site’s database. In the database, you will go to the users table and edit your user. Set the password field to the password you would like and set the dropdown for the field to md5 and press Go at the bottom.

Once your design is how you want it you’ll want to look into adding the right keywords to have your posts rank on Google’s search. If you’re new to keyword research, we have a video guiding you on the steps to do keyword research here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhk76ZvccK8

The keywords will also give you ideas for what content to write about for your site to keep giving value to your site’s visitors. To begin getting revenue from your content you will want to sign up for affiliate programs. Some places to start looking for these programs are searching for the brands you use and add an affiliate program to your search. There are also sites such as ShareASale, cj.com, and Click Bank.

For this tutorial we’ll be using the Amazon Associates affiliate program here:

https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

Reminder: Do not cloak Amazon Affiliate links due to their current limitations for affiliates.

To make displaying Amazon content easier, we would recommend taking a look at the AAWP plugin that uses Amazon’s own API to pull in product information without having any trouble with the affiliate agreement.

Technical SEO Tutorial: 5 Simple SEO Tips for Higher Rankings

Technical SEO is critical for your site’s success. In this video, you’ll learn the basics of technical SEO and how to use that knowledge to improve things on your site like site speed, proper image sizing, image compression. Making sure your site is able to be seen by Google, and be crawled and indexed by Google.

The most common accidental step that is missed is under Settings, Reading that the Search Engine Visibility section is checked which will prevent Google and other search engines from indexing the content properly. This can be caused by a coming soon plugin or when you’re just starting out it can sometimes be set by your hosting.

For creating the sitemap we’re using the Yoast SEO plugin found here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

With the basic setting covered, you would want to ensure you submit your sitemap to Google so they know the entirety of the content on your site. Using the Yoast SEO plugin, under SEO, General settings for the plugin you will want to ensure that the XML sitemap is enabled.

Click on the question mark next to the XML Sitemap option to bring up your sitemap and copy the URL to paste it into Google’s search console. Once the sitemap is submitted to Google it can normally take up to 48 hours to have your content fully indexed on Google.

Now that your site is indexed, we would recommend checking the site’s speed and fixing any errors with the speed and optimization. While there is a score, don’t focus on getting a full 100 or an A in the ranking, it is only a suggestion and with the multitude of sites out there, it cannot account for every type of site.

The tool we recommend in this video is:

https://www.isitwp.com/free-website-speed-test-tool-for-wordpress/

Another major factor for your site’s ranking and speed is the size of the images on your site. The main steps for reducing the image’s size is to use a tool such as Paint or GIMP to change the width to fit your theme and keep the image dimensions to prevent stretching. That reduction in the size of the image’s pixels reduces the size but there is also the tool to optimize it called TinyPNG which makes the image web friendly.

TinyPng can be found here:
https://tinypng.com/

While this is good for old images, to handle the older images on your site you would want to take a look at the plugin ShortPixel. It will go through your already uploaded images and future images you upload to ensure they fit your needs including the correct width you want the image.

ShortPixel plugin:

Off Page SEO: 7 Powerful Techniques to Grow Your Website Traffic (And Make Money with Your Site)

Are you ready to work on Off page SEO for your site? Off page SEO is not something directly in your control and is more about networking with other users and websites for links on their site.

If you’re a local business where you answer questions people are asking you can go to networking events or talk for groups of people to help get both your name and brand in front of people. We’ll be doing the same but in an online space for you to become a familiar brand for users looking for your product.

We would recommend guest blogging, simply write about your topic and offer to write an article for another popular site. When you do this it should normally include an author bio with a link back to your website. That backlink will let the readers of that site know who you are and where to find your site.

You can answer questions on a Q&A site such as Quora about your site’s topic. This lets those users know that you are an expert in your field and can trust your opinion on certain topics.

Next, we recommend having a social profile for your business, especially the social platform that your site is good for. If you do a large number of visuals then Pinterest is a good platform while Twitter is good for short messages to your users when you have constant updates or flash sales. For us, we use Youtube as one because we have tutorials where users can benefit from having a visual of our guides. With the content set up, make sure you share it on your social profiles for your visitors to know about it.

Replacing broken backlinks on sites is another powerful method to get search engines to notice your site. When you offer a good replacement to those site owners that means that they get to update the articles that were possibly valuable to them and get your content to their users which is a win-win. Influencers, as long as their audience is a good fit for what you’re doing, can give content to that influencer as well as bring your brand to that audience’s attention.

On Page SEO Tutorial for Beginners: 7 Simple Tips That Get More Traffic (2022)

In this video, we’ll guide you through how to do on-page SEO to help you get more traffic to your site. This means making sure the content on your site is optimized for the keywords that you want to rank for in Google.

This video brought to you by WPForms, take a look at their site here:
=================================
https://wpforms.com/
=================================

For the discount, use our code: WPBVIP

To help with on-page SEO we would recommend installing the Yoast SEO plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

You will want to look at setting up the on-page SEO after the post was written when you start out. After you select the article you want to modify, start by ensuring the keyword you’re wanting to rank for is in your title when you can as well as for the post’s permalink.

You also want the keyword in the first paragraph of your content for it to appear in the snippet and lets the reader and Google know what to look for in the article. The keyword can be adjusted throughout the article if there is more than one way to spell it.

If you have a similar article or an article that it could be confused for you will want to link back to that article on your site for the users who were looking for your additional content to stay on your site. These links back to your site for similar articles gives your visitors more reasons to go through your site and reduces your bounce rate that will be an ongoing process as you add them to your older articles.

If your keyword can fit into your h2 or other title tags add them there. Optimizing your images is also useful for Google and your visually impaired users. Start by naming the file itself to a description of the image itself, add alt text describing the image, and ensure the image is optimized for being used on the web.

With those taken care of, Yoast and other SEO plugins add an area to the bottom of your post where you can modify what is being sent to search engines. One being the meta description which shows up in search engines and this can sometimes be overwritten.
