Once you search for a keyword with Ahrefs you will have the difficulty indicator for how many backlinks you would want to have to rank well with your site. There is also the search volume to give you an idea of how often the word is searched for and to give an idea of if it is a seasonal search or you can narrow this by country. Ahrefs even has an estimation of how many clicks a site in the first position will normally receive per month.

How To Do Keyword Research for Your Website and SEO

In this guide, we will teach you how to do keyword research. By keywords, we mean the words that people use to try to find your content when using Google or another search engine. If you’re looking to improve your site’s rankings, follow this keyword research guide.

To start, there are four main keyword intents to take into account.

Navigational are for brand names that are well known such as Netflix or Facebook you will search for those names and unless you are a large brand you won’t have to think about that.

Transactional keywords are for when people want to purchase something such as a model number when you want to find a specific product and go to a page to purchase it.

Informational keywords are for helping users answer or fix a problem and this is a majority of keywords which can help people get to your site and use your solution.

Investigational is for finding products or services that would be the tools for what they’re wanting. These keywords tend to have a modifier such as best or review as that helps them decide what fills their needs.

Start by brainstorming what you want to write about, you know what you’re writing about best and you’ve likely forgotten the basics that people may ask. That is why keyword research is important.

The first method we’re using is an extension called keywords everywhere: https://keywordseverywhere.com/

This will add an identifier of the volume of searches and related keywords when you search for something on Google. This will help you find what users are looking for and it gives you the option to export the content and group it for future articles.

Second, we recommend answer the public: https://answerthepublic.com

This will bring in related keywords and questions when you search for a specific keyword. It will list the entire questions and help you sort through different related searches and questions.

Third, we recommend the paid tools SEMRush: https://www.semrush.com/

and Ahrefs

Both of these are paid but have a free trial or refund option. When you enter your seed keyword and search it will bring more specific and sortable information about the keyword that the free alternatives do not offer.

Most searches are on Google so we will be focusing on Google mainly in this series. Knowledge graphs will give an idea of the correct information, the people also ask will be for similar queries, and the top three organic results will be the preferred selection for location on Google.

Focusing on ranking, ensuring your content is clear and well organized for your users improves the likelihood that users will remain on your site rather than going back to look for a better answer for their result. This would be a part of on-page SEO where you have a keyword for what you are attempting to cover, alt and title tags as well as descriptions for your images, linking to similar articles on your site that may be useful.

9 Easy Tips on How to Get More Email Subscribers [And To Grow Your List]

Are you looking to grow your email list? Smart bloggers know that different tips work for different subscribers. In this video you’ll learn 9 powerful tips to get more email subscribers fast.

Create a lead magnet, a lead magnet is an easy to digest or understand piece of information such as a pdf version of one of your articles or an article converted into an infographic in exchange for the user’s email address. This could even be an excel or similar sheet to bring value to your visitor.

Hosting a webinar allows you to get your users to communicate with each other and you directly which brings a face to your brand. It helps build that trust and allows you to send the users to your email list.

Add content upgrades to your blog posts which is similar to creating a lead magnet. The difference being a content upgrade you can place inside the posts and pages where you feel relevant.

Create gated content, this means to have some content for your site’s visitors to get them started and then require the users to log in to see the rest of your content. This will allow you to collect emails for those who are interested in your site’s content.

Hosting a giveaway is another method for gaining user emails, this requires you to select a prize that fits how much you are willing to spend and what prize would be good for your site’s audience.

Create an exit intent popup, when people are attempting to leave your site you can show them your most popular blog post or a request to sign up to be notified for future articles. This gives them an additional chance to come back for your content or close the window without one of the annoying popups that prevent navigating away.

Creating a quiz will give you the ability to bring your users through a step by step question process to guide them to the best product or service for their needs.

Offer a coupon if you’re an ecommerce store or selling a product. If the users like your product then this is further incentive for them to return to your store.

Use social media to bring value to the communities your site or you are popular with and guide them to your site to answer any questions or problems they have or use it for ideas for new content.

7 Proven Ways to Make Money with Your Email List (2022)

Now that you’ve created your email list and are starting to get subsribers, it’s time to make money with your list.

In this video you’ll learn seven of our recommended methods to make money with your email list. While this is a video about monetizing your email list, we recommend only sending one marketing email to your email list for every four or five email.

Recommending products is the first method we cover, this allows you to be an affiliate of that specific product and share your preferred product to your site’s visitors. When sharing affiliate links this way, you would want to ensure that the affiliate program allows you to send the direct links in emails or if they don’t, have an article you can point your visitors toward where you link to the product.

Getting email sponsors is our second recommendation. Reaching out to have someone sponsor a post will allow them to get outreach to your email list for their product or service and by doing this, you’re sharing a product you find value from with your email subscribers.

For another option, you can sell products on your site that either you create or are an affiliate of, or you can start a dropshipping site to sell products from other providers and have your site focus on bringing customers.

Offering an ecourse allows you to monetize your knowledge and share it with your visitors for a cost. You would want to find a pain point and create a solution for your visitors to give them.

When a user signs up for something on your site, it is also a great time to offer them another product on the thank you page of your site. If a user is interested in your content already, you don’t need to wait for your first email to let them know about your products.

If you have specialized content you can create a paid email subscription model. One popular method would be to cover a topic’s basics in a free email and offer the option to sign up for a more in-depth dive into the subject.

Email abandoned shopping carts if you can, some users get busy when looking through products or with leaving a full cart. If you have the user’s email address you can inform them of the products in their cart to help them complete their purchase.

In this video, we will use Constant contact and create a new list where we would like to send our subscribers.

Next, we will set up a call to action using OptinMonster. OptinMonster allows you customization freedom as well as guiding you with the recommended design from the text to the color and any credits on the signup.

With the call to action set how we want, we will connect the call to action to the Constant Contact account and name it whatever we like for housekeeping purposes. With it connected you can also select the specific list with Constant contact to send these users to.

Don’t forget to publish this call to action and then go back to your WordPress site to install and activate the OptinMonster plugin. In the plugin’s settings, you will want to add the API from your OptinMonster account to have access to your campaigns.

Refresh your campaigns page to have your campaigns be visible and go live with the campaign you want on your site. The setting you can choose will allow you to set up where and when this call to action will appear on your site for your visitors.

6 Reasons Why You Need to Build an Email List [Right Now!]

In this videos, you’ll learn why you need to build and email list and we’ll cover some ways to get started. Creating an email list is not always the first priority for new website owners but it is a powerful tool for retaining and expanding on the visitors you have on your site. Email is personal in that it allows you to speak directly to your users the same way you would with your content. This gives your readers a better idea of who you are and why they should trust your content.

Sending these emails will allow you to reach out directly to your audience and receive direct audience feedback without the need for the comments on your site. This method allows you to directly reach out to users who have chosen to get messages from you. These users are normally more invested in your content than others.

Most email providers also allow you to segment the users into different groups, this way your users who like one type of content can receive messages for these specific types of posts.

You own your email list which means that you are not dependant on how a service like Facebook or Google handles your contact with your users. As long as you have their email address you can send them a message.

An email also allows you to write newsletters to allow users to feel a one on one connection. This connection increases the user investment in your site and when you write about content that a user suggested it lets them know about your interest in them.

Email while not the newest, is the most popular method for contacting someone. This is why sites like Facebook or Twitter ask for your email rather than your user on another site. Having this information from your site’s visitors allows you the same advantage those sites have.

5 Helpful Tips to Choose the Best Domain Name for Your Blog

Choosing the right domain for your site is a major factor for your success. If you choose the wrong domain name it can make changing it to what you feel is better later on a major hassle. When first starting out finding the name that’s right for you can be difficult but in this video, we’ll share all of the tools and tips you need to get domain name ideas, choose the best domain, and register the domain name.

Links mentioned in this video:

-Nameboy-

-IsItWP-
https://www.isitwp.com/domain-name-generator/

The primary recommendation we have is to stay with a .com domain name if you can. They are the most recognizable and people tend to go to try the .com version of a domain first if they can’t remember it.

Next is to keep the domain short. A shorter domain name is not only easier to remember but is less likely to be misspelled and less time for your users to type out your domain name.

Make it a brandable URL, by that we mean make the name something that will stand out for your visitors without infringing on a trademark. That way, when they think about your niche they will think of your site’s name.

Avoid hyphens, while they were previously being pushed for, they gained a reputation for spam which is an association you don’t want for your site. There’s also the human factor of where to place the hyphen or if they remember the hyphen.

Leave room to expand, when selecting your domain name, if you make it a narrow subject area then you will only be able to talk about that subject matter. Rather than a domain about one specific vegetable, have a domain about fresh eating.

To help you think of a domain name, we have added links to nameboy and isitwp’s domain name generator should you not have a specific domain in mind. With your domain selected, you can use our BlueHost deal above for a free domain name on registration or you can purchase your domain through domain.com.

8 Easy Ways to Increase Your Blog Traffic

Looking to increase traffic to your blog? With a blog now created, you’ll want to look for ways to increase the number of visitors your site gets. This increases not only how many people view your content, but also how much authority your site has to your visitors and search engines. In this video, we will show you 8 easy ways to increase your blog traffic.

Links mentioned in this video:

OptinMonster Buyer Persona

Ahrefs
https://www.wpbeginner.com/refer/ahrefs/

Semrush
https://www.wpbeginner.com/refer/semrush/

Answerthepublic
https://www.wpbeginner.com/refer/answerthepublic/

Start by creating an audience profile and answering questions such as who is your target audience, what are their pain points, what content would they be looking for, and how can you help? You would want to take a look at the link to the OptinMonster article above for a guide on how to create a buyer persona to get you started.

Try doing keyword research starting with doing a brain dump of all your topic ideas and then running them through tools such as ahrefs, semrush, and answerthepublic to get even more ideas.

With the topics chosen, create useful content for your visitors. Don’t give them a wall of text that is hard to see, make the content thorough, readable, and add great headlines to break up the content.

You can also add content that is not only text. Try adding videos to your site, maybe a slideshow, a screencast of something you are describing, an interview with a professional, or a selfie video of you discussing the topic.

These tactics will get you started, don’t forget that search engines are also attempting to read your site so if you don’t apply SEO basics then they can’t read your content. Keywords in the title and body help them know what the content of the article is, Image alt text helps blind users and search engine crawlers know what images are depicting, internal linking lets users know of your content that is similar to this topic, and the Yoast SEO plugin will set up the framework to help search engines understand your site.

For improving your authority for your site’s visitors, work to get backlinks on other sites through guest blogging, creating roundup posts or attempting to be included in roundup posts, interview with other bloggers so you both gain viewers, and interact on your social media profiles.

Other online networking approaches are adding yourself to new social networks, joining online communities, adding yourself in other search engines(such as YouTube), and helping users on Q&A websites.

Finally, if you haven’t already, start an email list and gain those emails using optin forms to bring attention to the sign-up and offering a lead magnet to incentivize them to join your email list.
