For our first recommended method we will be using the polylang plugin that you are able to find here:

http://www.wordpress.org/plugins/polylang

The plugin will add a Languages section to your site where you can select the languages to list as available to your visitors. Start by adding the native language as you want all languages including the language your posts are originally in. There will be no posts set to either languange and you should have an option at the top of the page to include all of the posts into the default language.

With that set up you can begin editing the posts to have a version in a different language. There are two methods to begin setting up the posts in your other languages you can either edit the post and on the top right there will be a plus icon next to the language flag or you can click the plus icon on the post you want to add to when viewing the list of your posts.

The second method you could use to translate your site would be the Google Language Translator plugin found here:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-language-translator

With the plugin installed and activated you would want to go under Settings, Google Language Translator and ensure that the Plugin status is checked for it to be active for the plugin to work properly. From that settings page you will be able to select the languages you want to translate your site into for your visitors. The translations for your site to become multilingual are automatically generated by Google with this method.

How to Create a Separate Page for Blog Posts in WordPress

WordPress displays your content in a blog format on the homepage normally but not all sites should be displayed that way. Some sites you want to display a welcome page or other custom content but can still find use for your posts. In this video we will show you how to create a separate page for blog posts in WordPress.

You would want to start by creating two new pages on your site one to be the new home page and another to be the page where you list your blog posts. For the home page you will want to add whatever content to it that you want someone visiting your site to see first. For the posts page you will want to leave that blank for your posts to be added to the page.

With the pages set up you will now go back to your admin area under Settings, Reading. From this page you can set your separate blog page by changing how your home page is displayed to a static page where you can set your home and posts page to the pages you want.

Now that you have set your page for blog posts you will need to ensure there is a method to find your posts. Under Appearance, Menus you can add the pages to your menu and ensure to include them in your menu and the menu display checkbox is checked. With that you now have a separate page for your blog posts in WordPress.

How to Add Google Maps in WordPress

Looking to add a map to your site but unsure of the best method? We’ve helped users add all types of files onto their sites and embedding content onto your site is another method to create rich content for your site’s visitors. In this video we will show you how to add Google Maps to your WordPress site.

Start by going to the Google Maps website and type in the address you want embedded on your site. With your location selected you will want to click the share link and go to the Embed map tab of the popup. Copy the code and paste it into the text editor on the post or page and publish the changes to have one method to embed the Google Map on your site.

The second method will be to use a plugin called MapPress Easy Google Maps. If you do not know how to install a plugin on your site you would want ot take a look at our article:

http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-install-a-wordpress-plugin-for-beginners/

For the plugin we are using in this tutorial you can find a direct link to it here:

Get API Key:

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/embed/get-api-key

With the plugin installed and activated you will want to go to your MapPress settings to start generating your Google API. It can take some time for the initial project for the API to be created and you can normally tell the status by the icon in the top right of the page. Once the project is created you can leave the key restriction as blank and create the API key.

Copy the API key and add it to MapPress’ settings section and save your changes to be able to use add the Google Maps to your site. In the plugin’s settings you can set the standard display sizes for your maps to use to customize it to your liking. With that set you can go to a post or page where you want the Google Map to be added.

On the bottom of your post or page is a new section for you to title, size, and add any points of interest you like to your Google Map. Save your settings to set the map and you will now be able to click the link to insert the map into your post. A shortcode will be added on the back end and when viewing the post or page there will now be a Google Map embedded there.

Of the posibilities that could cause this would be one of your plugins causing this error. To fix this we will use FTP, if you do not know how to use FTP you would want to take a look at our article:

http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-ftp-to-upload-files-to-wordpress-for-beginners/

With FTP connected to your site you will want to rename your plugins folder to anything other than plugins to force the plugins to deactivate and once you log in you will be able to set the folder name back to plugins to return the deactivated plugins to your site.

If your issue was not from your plugins the next possibility would be your .htaccess file. If you do not see the file, ensure that you are displaying hidden and/or dot files in the FTP you are using to access your files. Rename the .htaccess and that shoudl allow you to visit the site if it was an issue with the .htaccess file.

Our final recommendation will be to edit the file permissions in case a plugin or your hosting provider changed the permissions. If you do not feel confident in attempting this step we would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider.

How to Fix the 500 Internal Server Error in WordPress

Are you running into a internal server error when trying to visit your WordPress site? The internal server error is one of the more common errors but it does not have any other information than there is an error. We’ve helped hundreds of people resolve the internal server error on their site and will sho you how in this video.

There are a few possible causes and we will go over each but if none of our recommendations are successful you would want to reach out to your hosting provider to see if the error is on the hosting’s end.

First the simplest method to try and resolve the issue would be to resave your permalinks. This will attempt to genreate a new htaccess file for your site to use that should resolve post pased 404s. Should that not work we will walk you through the manual method to remove the .htaccess.

If the problem is not from your htaccess you we will try increasing the PHP memory limit. This will include generating a new file, adding some code to it, and uploading it to your hosting area.

The final method you can attempt for the solution would be to reupload WordPress’ core files with FTP. We only recommend the wp-admin and wp-includes folders so you do not overwrite the content of your site.

How to Send Email in WordPress using the Gmail SMTP Server

Having trouble sending and receiving emails from your WordPress site? We’ve helped many users solve this error easily and will walk you through how in this video.

The easy way to solve this is by sending emails from WordPress using the Gmail SMTP server. With this video we will show you how to send email in WordPress using the Gmail SMTP server.

In this tutorial, we will walk you through:

– How to install the Gmail SMTP plugin
– How to add the required settings
– How to set up the Google API
— How to add your credentials
– How to test emails sent from your site
– How to use Gmail SMTP for a second method

By default WordPress uses PHP to send emails which can cause them to be flagged for spam, the simplest method to prevent this would be to use SMTP.

We will be using Gmail for the SMTP which will require you to create an application at the Google Developers Console website:

https://www.google.com/accounts/Logout?continue=https://console.developers.google.com/start/api?id=gmail

What we will need to create the API is the Authorized redirect URI found in the plugin settings and with that we will be able to add the final three required settings for the plugin:

1. The client ID
2. The client secret
3. Click the authorize emails using your Google account button

If you do not want to use this method there is a less secure method using SMTP without the API that we will walk you through.
